Data Matrix Positioning System is a positioning system that uses data matrix codes to determine precise positioning. The heart of the system is the 2-D read head. It consists of a camera module with a built-in light unit. It reads and decodes the position marks that are printed as two-dimensional Data Matrix codes on a self-adhesive code band.
The new PCV positioning system is equipped with a 120 x 80 mm scan window through which the sensor is able to read up to five Data Matrix codes at once in a single read operation. Using Data Matrix codes as information carriers also allows data to be mapped redundantly. Due to these multiple redundancies, the PXV is extremely resistant to interferences.
The code band is self-adhesive and is delivered in customized lengths of up to 100 km distance. This positioning system can be used in very large facilities without restriction. The code band is usually attached to the wall of an elevator shaft or the mounting rail of a monorail. The sensor head is then mounted on a parallel moving “vehicle,” at the elevator car or at the chassis of a monorail, for example. With comprehensive and easy programming and configurable inputs and outputs, the 2-D read head can be optimally adapted to the particular application.
The PCV Data Matrix Positioning System provides maximum flexibility and adaptability not only in the commissioning of a plant, but also for later changes. Up to 999 different event markers are easily placed at the desired location. You directly control functional processes without software.

The code band is available to a length of 10,000 meters. Several code lines on the band allow the additional positioning in Y-direction. For generating control signals a band strip – the Event Marker – can be affixed on the band.
